Soroca is the administrative center of the Soroca rayon, it is the 8th largest town in The Republic of Moldova, but also the second largest in size and importance in NDR (after Balti). The town is located in the north-eastern part of the Republic of Moldova, on the right bank of the Dniester River, near the Tsekinovka village in Ukraine and is recognizable by the Soroca Fortress – a unique historical monument in the architecture of Moldovan defensive buildings, built in stone by Steven the Great in 1489. Soroca has a well-developed industrial potential, represented by enterprises from various branches of the economy. The main branch of the town’s economy is manufacturing, the food and light industry having the leading role.
