NDR stands out through a multitude of protected areas and cultural sites of undeniable value. It is represented by 102 state-protected natural areas, two beaches of national importance (Soroca, Costesti), caves, including “Emil Racovita” – one of the largest caves in the world, reefs, grottos, toltres, paleontological sites, some of which are unique in Europe.
The area is favorable for the development of several types of tourism. There is a picturesque natural setting with multiple recreation options and a valuable cultural and historical potential conducive to the development of agritourism.
