The town of Briceni is the administrative center of the rayon. It is located in the valley between the Lopatnic and Vilia rivers, by the international road Balti-Cernivtsy, at the Ukrainian border. Its location close to the border with Ukraine makes the town an interesting destination for foreign and domestic investors targeting the regional markets. There are foreign capital enterprises operating here and specializing in fields such as production of oil from canola and other oilseed plants, buying cereals, pig farming, which could attract additional investments in related agriculture and industry branches and drive their development. The high soil quality and small share of eroded land speak about the advantages that investors wishing to place their capital in agriculture could have.
